The JVC DLA-NZ800 is a strong projector in its own right. Adding a madVR Envy Core MK2 changes the discussion from comparing projector model numbers to considering the complete image chain.
Different parts of the chain
The projector determines fundamental optical and imaging capability. The external video processor works upstream, managing video processing tasks before the signal reaches the projector.
That means an NZ800 with Envy should not be described as universally ‘better’ than every more expensive projector. It is a different system architecture, and in the right room the combined result can be more compelling than spending the same budget only on the projector.
Why we like the system approach
It forces the conversation back toward the room, screen, source material and calibration rather than a single specification sheet.
Where the decision starts
We look first at image width, throw, room reflectance, seating, aspect-ratio strategy and the level of HDR performance expected. The processor then becomes part of a deliberate image path rather than an accessory added later.
