What you are purchasing

A focused review before lighting decisions become expensive to change.

This consultation aligns private-cinema lighting, screen performance, interior detailing and control scenes. It is specification-led and independent: any platform or product recommendation should follow the requirements of the room and wider project.

What happens after purchase

Once the order has been received, we will contact the client to arrange the consultation and explain how to provide the available project material. The consultation is normally delivered remotely. An in-person or site consultation may be arranged separately where appropriate, subject to availability, location and any additional travel or attendance costs agreed in writing.

What to send before the consultation

Clients should provide whatever is currently available: floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, electrical drawings, room dimensions, photographs or video, screen and seating positions, interior references, lighting ideas, control-system details, project stage and specific decisions requiring review. Complete drawings are not required for an early useful discussion.

Who may attend

The consultation may include the homeowner and relevant members of the project team, such as the architect, interior designer, lighting designer, electrician or AV integrator. Including the right participants can help resolve coordination questions before construction decisions are finalised.

What the consultation reviews

  • Architectural, decorative and concealed lighting layers
  • Screen reflections, glare and perceived image contrast
  • Entry, pre-show, viewing, pause and cleaning scenes
  • Dimming behaviour and appropriate circuit separation
  • Keypad and user-interface requirements
  • Coordination with acoustic treatments, joinery and interior finishes
  • The possible role of Lutron, Control4, Rako or another suitable control approach
  • Items requiring confirmation by the electrician, lighting designer, architect or another project professional

What you receive

Following the consultation, the client receives concise written direction summarising the principal observations, priorities and recommended next steps. This is intended to guide the project and identify matters requiring further design, specification or professional confirmation. It is not an installation-ready drawing package.

What is not included

The consultation does not include a full architectural lighting design, electrical or circuit drawings, load schedules, detailed dimming schedules, emergency-lighting or regulatory-compliance design, on-site verification, product supply, installation, programming, commissioning, certification or approval by a registered electrical professional, or detailed construction documentation.

Any further design, specification, product supply, installation, programming or commissioning work must be scoped and quoted separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is the consultation conducted remotely?

Yes. It is delivered remotely unless another arrangement is agreed in writing.

Can it take place on site?

Potentially. This depends on the project location and availability. Any additional attendance, time or travel costs will be agreed before the visit.

Do I need finished drawings?

No. Early plans, sketches, dimensions and photographs are sufficient to begin a useful discussion.

Can my architect, designer or integrator attend?

Yes. Relevant project participants are welcome and can be particularly helpful where lighting, interiors, electrical work and cinema systems overlap.

Does the fee include products or installation?

No. The fee covers the consultation and its stated written outcome. Products, detailed design, installation, programming and commissioning are quoted separately.

Am I required to purchase a particular lighting-control brand?

No. The consultation is specification-led. Any product or platform recommendations should follow the requirements of the room and wider project.

What happens if the project needs more detailed design?

The appropriate next step will be identified. This may involve a more detailed cinema-design service, lighting-control specification, equipment proposal or separate implementation quotation.

By purchasing this consultation, the client agrees to the applicable Home Cinema Store terms, privacy notice and cancellation or rescheduling provisions.

Compare design services

Choose the right level of help before the room is built around the wrong assumption.

Not every project needs the same level of design. Begin with a focused consultation when you need expert direction, choose concept design when the room needs a coherent first-pass solution, and move to technical design when the project team needs coordinated information from which to build.

The outcome is a concise written direction covering the most important lighting decisions and the next design or implementation steps.

Specified as a system

The room decides what belongs in it.

Screen size, seating geometry, loudspeaker layout, bass architecture, processing and amplification should be considered together. We can help specify the complete system around this product.
